At eDentistry Wantirna we like to get to know our patients. It’s important to us to, not only provide quality treatment and care, but to form a connection with each and every one of our patients. We also think it’s important to show you our own human side too and to let you know that we also have a life outside of eDentistry Wantirna. We believe it’s important to establish a good rapport with our patients, to help them feel comfortable in, what is to many people, an anxious time. We understand that visiting the dentist is not always a pleasant experience and can really raise the levels of anxiety in some patients. We like to extend a ‘hug’ or emotional lifeline to those patients who find it quite distressing to undergo dental treatment.
It all starts with a phone call where we try to gather as much information about you as we can, both clinically and personally, helping us to consider your level of anxiety and possible treatment prior to your first visit. We will send you a welcome email so that you get to ‘meet the team’ before you even set foot in the door.
On arrival, we will greet you warmly, have a chat about your day and even offer you a cuppa. We try to make our patients feel as comfortable and relaxed as possible from the very first phone call right through to their departure. Dr Alex Loh and his lovely dental nurse Punkey, also go to great lengths to make their patients feel relaxed by explaining procedures before commencing them and also making sure they explain the process along the way.
I have spoken with many highly anxious patients over the years, some who burst into tears on the phone and explain that it has taken them months just to gather the courage to pick up the phone and make that call. We don’t judge these patients and make sure we are empathetic to each and every unique situation and story. Often, patients are too embarrassed to call as they haven’t seen a dentist in years, sometimes decades, and are extremely embarrassed by the condition of their teeth. Again, we don’t judge these patients but instead extend a warm welcome, reassurance and proceed to offer them support and encouragement to make that next step.
We value the relationships we form with our patients and want eDentistry Wantirna to feel like an extension of your family.
Yes, we’re here to provide a service but a service with a smile and a ‘hug’!
